Have you ever been to see a Thunderbirds Air Show?  A better question may be:  Have you ever experienced the Thunderbirds.  The roar of the jets and the feeling in your chest when they fly by is incredible.  Seeing America’s best and flightest 😉 soar is inspirational and unforgettable.  These pilots are the best of the best.  If you’ve ever seen Top Gun you know what I mean.  The Thunderbirds visit New Kingstown, Rhode Island each summer.  Catch them if you can next summer.  They are not-to-be-missed!  Enjoy the show!  So much to see up close, from a parked Blue Angels jet, to a huge C130 that the kids got to crawl around in, to the Black Daggers paratroopers soldiers, the Navy, Marines, Army, and the Air Force joined together to show the American public their best people and machines.

This was the coolest maneuver. They move so fast hard to get perfect shot!

Precious Girls Club

Since I was little girl, I have loved the Precious Moments sweet-faced collectibles. Whenever I see those tear-drop eyes it brings me back to a time when my girls were younger and spent time playing with their little plastic Precious Moments play town with little Precious Moments people.

Recently I was excited to find out that the Precious Moments company has launched a new line of characters on their new website geared toward older girls, ages 4-10, called the Precious Girls Club. As you can see here, even though this is a line for “older” girls, you can immediately recognize the same Precious Moments-styled faces and the company’s wholesomeness.

The Precious Girls Club already has released some books which are available from Amazon. Even more exciting is the recently launched website that uses faith-based and character-building language to remind girls to learn to their God-given gifts to help others so they can grow to be the best that they can be. My daughters loved the story, A Little Bit of Faith, and are enjoying their time spent playing on the new Precious Girls Club fun-filled website. The books and the website all introduce characters that gently reinforce the values that I encourage within our family. I have found that these good values seem to be harder and harder to find in the items for sale in today’s stores.

When you pick up the book, it is easy to immediately like the main character, Katie. She instantly brings out the nurturing quality of the viewer because she recently had her whole life turn upside down. Her loving family and guardian angel, named Faith, try to do their best to help her to adjust smoothly to her new life; they remind her of all of the God-given gifts she has received. Katie slowly learns that she needs to use all of her wonderful gifts to find true success for herself. Faith, her guardian angel, doesn’t grant Katie’s wishes. Katie has to figure out how to accomplish her own goals. Katie starts to think of ways she can use her gifts to help herself make her own way toward finding the solutions that she needs.

The story is beautiful in that she learns that the more that she believes in herself, and trusts in God’s promise, the closer she gets toward reaching her goals.  She learns to believe even when it is hard to believe. This is a high quality story with gentle lessons that can help guide girls down the path of making the most of all that God has blessed us with.  I invite you to share this story, A Little Bit of Faith, with your girls.  These books are available from Amazon here, but I have 4 brand new copies available for 4 of my lucky readers who leave me a comment on this post.  (Since I just moved my blog here feel free to comment on other posts, since I can’t seem to import my previous comments.) If you prefer not to leave your email address written in your comment, then include your first name in your comment and then email me with your email address. I will contact the winners to get their addresses and I will pay to ship the book to you should you win. (Regular US mail.)  Whether or not you win, consider picking up a copy to share with a little girl who you love.  Be sure to introduce your precious girl to the new Precious Girls Club website.

Winners will be announced on Saturday, November 1, 2008.  Entries received prior to Saturday, November 1, 2008 will qualify for the random drawing of comment numbers.   Best of luck to you!

Maria Bailey, Co Founder of Newbaby.com, writes of her dream website: “I think we’ve created a cutting edge site for moms that will give us all the ability to capture more of those moments we try to hold on to and share them with friends and family.  Newbaby.com offers a lot of great features from learning videos, blogs, community and product reviews but the feature I’m most excited about is the chance to archive video.  Just think, now you can record your baby’s first word on your webcam, upload it to your Newbaby Video Gallery and share it with your partner, grandparents or distant family members.  Can you imagine recording your 1st grader’s thoughts on the first day of school and having them when he graduates from high school? It’s now possible and you don’t have to transfer tapes to disks or worry that the VCR is plugged in.  I hope you will enjoy Newbaby.com and all it has to offer and if you like it, please tell a friend.”

This is a great site which you can use to share your family videos with select family and friends- or the world.  This is a great place to store your memories for free.  Maybe you have an upcoming Walt Disney World vacation trip planned?  Well, why not set up a free account and upload your family’s vacation video while you are still on vacation?  Your loved ones could see your baby in action at Walt Disney World with Mickey or Pooh before you even arrive home!  Imagine that!

Hop on over to Newbaby.com and start sharing your memories, learn some great tips, and check out all of the other moms out there that are going through the same things that you are.  It is a lot of fun, enjoy!

Meme about me

I found an open invitation to this meme on Darcie’s Such the Spot blog.

What is the worst meal you ever had?
That would be the one I served at a party in my house that had plastic wrap melted in the food.  It appears that catering companies like to put plastic wrap under aluminum foil.  Who knew?  Doesn’t everyone take it home and put it in their oven to keep it hot?

The one place you could vacation every year?
I am stealing Heather and Darcie’s answer-  Disney World!

5 things that drive you crazy?
-Whenever I melt something, that was not supposed to be melted, when cooking.
-Bugs in computer programs that can’t be easily replicated, but are real issues.
-Whenever I burn/under cook something because I forgot to set the timer or look at the clock when I began heating it.
-Whenever I burn my hands on a hot pan because I decide the Mickey dishtowel on my oven door will do the trick.
-Whenever I fill the dryer with wet clothes but forget to actually start the machine.

Name 3 people from your past that make you stop and think, “Hey, I wonder what ever happened to…”
-I spent the summers of my college years directing my town’s sailing program.  I wonder how all of those kids are doing.
-The woman to whom I reported while volunteering at the local aquarium while at college.
-Dreamfinder 🙂

Kids TV show you might actually enjoy more than your kids do?
There are no TV shows I enjoy more than my children.

Worst movie I have ever seen?
American Beauty

Most under-rated TV show you watch regularly?
I don’t watch any shows anymore.  My hubby turns on different news shows at night, while I play on the computer.

Most popular TV show you never watch?
American Idol

Celebrity whose looks you’d like to have?
I will steal Darcie’s answer, Keira Knightley.  I think it would be fun to also have her accent.

Celeb you can’t stand?
Britney Spears

What did you do today?
Cuddled with the girls.  Helped pick out their outfits.  Showered/dressed/made myself up for a work day.  Had breakfast with the girls.  Packed snack and water bottle in my oldest’s school bag.  Braided the girls’ hair.  Put my oldest on the school bus after hugs and kisses.  My youngest and I walked our dog.  I changed into work shoes.  Packed up their bag of stuff for the day.  Dropped off my youngest with the girls’ bag of stuff and more hugs and kisses.  Drove to work listening to a new WDW Today podcast.  Worked.  Talked with the girls on the phone.  Worked.  Drove home listening to another new WDW Today podcast.  Picked up the girls.  Bath time.  Brushed and then braided their hair.  Cuddled and chatted with the girls and hubby.  Storytime.  Once they were ready for bed I tucked them in bed.  Heated up some leftovers and ate with hubby.  He started to watch TV and I started to play on the computer.

I am tagging anyone who wants to play along.

I received the sweet text, below, in an email last week.   I brought copies of it with me to Sunday School.  My class cut out the text and pasted it on construction paper.  They embellished the “frame” around the text with stickers and little crayon pictures.  They came out really cute!  The kids, ages 3-4, were so proud of their work.  They also really enjoyed hearing the story.   Happy Mother’s Day everyone!

A baby asked God, “They say you are sending me to Earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?”
God said, “Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you.”

The child further inquired, “But tell me, here in Heaven I don’t have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy.”
God said, “Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you.  And you will feel your angels love and be very happy.”

Again the child asked, “And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me, if I don’t know the language?”  God said, “Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak.”

The child asked, “And what am I going to do when I want to talk to You?”  God said, “Your angel will place your hands together and teach you how to pray.”

“Who will protect me?”  God said, “Your angel will defend you, even if it means risking its life.”

“But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore.”  God said, “Your angel will talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be right next to you.”

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, “God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel’s name.”

God said, “You will simply call her ‘Mom’.”
